Doily Tags by Pat's Craft

I ran across a post on Face Book that gave me a lot of inspiration.  Pat's Craft posted a "how to create" post for making tags using paper doilies.  My creative has never gone in that direction and she inspired me to create paper doily tags.  I was so inspired, I asked Pat if I could post her directions on my blog for my followers to see and to become inspired.

Supplies:  Cardstock of your choice, glue of your choice, images (fussy cut from a magazine, die cuts, printables, etc.), washi tape (optional), scissors, ribbon/string of choice

Directions:

NOTE:  I've added my thoughts in red.

Cut a strip of cardstock measuring 2-1/2" x 10". (You can cut three strips from one sheet of cardstock.)

Decorate the sides/edges with washi tape, patterned paper, etc. Score at 5". Fold in half. When folded the cardstock now measures 2-1/2" x 5".

This is how it looks after folder the strip in half.

Take a piece of doily (approximately 4-1/2") and fold it "less than half" (see the fold line)? Ink the edges of the doily, if desired.

Fold is less than half of doily.

Place the folded doily to the "folded end" of the cardstock.

Place a very thin layer of glue at the bottom of the doily (or folded edge of cardstock); DO NOT glue the whole doily ... just a line of glue at the bottom will do.

Stick the doily to the cardstock.

Open the cardstock ... it will look like this.

Then, fold in both sides of the doily and glue them down. After that, glue generously on both sides of the cardstock and "close it up".  Burnish with a bone folder to firmly attach.

The front will now look like this.

I inked the sides of the doily and the card tag to give it a distressed look.

I glued my fussy cut ephemeras onto the cardstock, trim off the top edges to give it the "tag look". Punched holes and adhered eyelets to the tags and tied them together with a raffia strip.  You can also add rubberstamped sentiments on the doily.  I did with the "Moments" rubberstamp (or add die cut words/phrases).

These tags are relatively quick and easy to complete and hold soooo much ephemera and are great to share in swaps or happy mail.

Please share your completed "doily tag" in your comment.  We would love to see your creations.  I (Brenda) will post mine as soon as I finish decorating them.  Have fun!

Graphics Fairy Collage Challenge for May 6, 2024

Where did the week go?  This week's collage challenge was definitely a challenge for myself.  Soooo many great images to choose from.  What do I use, what do I use?  Once again Diana and I created two totally different cards for our collages, hers is on the left and mine is on the right.  Enjoy!

WHERE did the time go?

Well, I missed posting for two weeks on Monday, but Diana and I did complete the Graphics Fairy's collage challenges for April 22nd and April 29th.  Once again, Diana's creations are on the left and mine are on the right.  Have a great day and let us know what you think!

Hi Everyone welcome back to our blog

In December I (Brenda) took a nasty fall and hit my head resulting in a concussion as well as messing up my shoulder.  The concussion took about 10 weeks to heal, my shoulder is a work in progress.  With the concussion I was unable to craft for more than five or ten minutes at a time, so I fell behind in creating and in posting.  But I am back up to speed and want to post what Diana and I have been doing since the first of January.

In January Diana and I agreed to participate in four different collaging challenges in 2024.  The first two collage challenges were for every day in January.  Whew, that was a LOT of creating in a short period of time, but we finished them.  We will be posting all 31 collages later this week for both challenges.

The other two collage challenges are weekly challenges.  The first is by Margarete Miller.  Margarete gives you six items each week and leaves it up to you to create a collage using your imagination.  You interpret what each item means to you.  Again, We will be posting these later this week or early next week.

The second weekly challenge is from Graphics Fairy.  If you are not familiar with Graphics Fairy, check them out.  You can subscribe to the store (for lack of a better word, lol) and receive weekly emails with their designs for that week AND you have access to all their designs provided over the years.  It is a wealth of images you can use to create your own designs in Photoshop Elements.

Posted below are the challenges for the year so far by month.  Diana's collage is shown first and mine is shown second.  We each used the file from Graphics Fairy for that week and came up with totally different collages.

We decided to make our collages on 4-3/4 x 6-3/4 playing cards, punch holes on each card with a Mini Cinch and will bind them altogether with binding wires at the end of the year.

We hope you enjoyed seeing our collages and hope you come back to see our new creations in the future.
