A "teaser" for this little beauty was made on August 12th and we asked you to come back today to see the completed project today.  Not only do you get the gorgeous accordian file, but you also receive a little booklet that can be used as a file folder or cut it in half and use it for two journaling cards and these four bookmarks/tags.

TECHNIQUE TUESDAY

Technique Tuesday -- How to make Shadows for your Dies

It is fantastic when you purchase a set of dies to match your stamp set and every die you can think of comes with the set.  But, what about those times you wish there was ONE more die.  I may have the solution you are looking for!

Circles are common and come in a variety of sizes for layering. And what a blessing they do.  But what about stand-a-lone flowers or alphabets that only come with the one die?  The answer:  MAKE YOUR OWN.  How?  It really is easy, especially if you like to fussy cut.

I cut the following images out using metal dies on Stampin' Up!s Stampin' Cut & Emboss Machine, Item Number 149653.

I then turned the dies over and laid them down on the card stock I wanted to use for the bottom layer (flat side down), lightly drew around them and cut them out.

Now a whole new world opens up using your dies in more than one way.  Play around, get creative and let me know what you think.  Have a great day!

FANCY FOLD FRIDAY -- Tri-Fold Card

Fancy Fold Friday -- Tri-Fold Card

This is a fun card to make, enjoy!

Loved making this card.  Card is shown with two layers on the front and back panels -- this is optional, using only one layer makes a beautiful card, too.

Supplies:  All supply items used were from Stampin' Up! Click on the Shop With Me button on the right to order the supplies you need.

8-1/2" x 11" sheet of cardstock for the base (Petal Pink, Item Number 146985)

5-1/2" x 4-1/4" sheet of coordinating cardstock for the first layer {optional} (Early Espresso, Item Number 119686)

Scrap piece of Basic White cardstock, approximately 3" x 3" (Basic White, Item Number 159276)

One sheet of Designer Series Paper (also known as patterned paper)   NOTE:  I used three sheets of 6" x 6" Designer Series Paper called     Item Number .

Something Fancy Stamp Set (Item Number 160416-Greeting) and Something Fancy Die Set (Item Number 160424-to cut out greeting)

Memento Ink Pad (Item Number 132708)

Multipurpose Liquid Glue (Item Number 110755)

Stampin' Dimensionals (Regular size - Item Number 104430)

Paper Trimmer (Item Number 152392)

Simply Scored Scoring Tool (Item Number 122334)

Scissors (optional)

Steps to make card:

Cut the cardstock you are using for the base to 5-1/2" x 10-7/8" (yeah, I know -- weird size, but it works)

Score the same sheet of cardstock at 3-5/8" and 7-1/4".

Fold along the score lines.  You now have the base of the Tri-Fold Card.

Measure on the left side from the bottom up to 1-3/4" and lightly put a mark.  Using your paper trimmer, place the paper on the trimmer with your "mark" and the second score line on the cutting line of the trimmer and cut the corner off.

This card is lovely when designer series paper (patterned paper) is used, or you can a second layer of cardstock -- whichever you prefer.  I used a second layer of cardstock for this card.

If you are using two layers, cut your second sheet of cardstock (coordinating color) as shown below. If using one layer, cut your Designer Series Paper (patterned paper) as shown below.

Front panel:  3-3/8" x 3-3/8", measure on the left side up 1-1/2" and place a mark.  Line the mark and the right top edge of the cardstock on the cutting line of the trimmer and cut off the corner.

Inside panel:  (Cut two -- one for each side of the card base.)  5-1/4" x 3-3/8", measure on the left side up 3-1/2" and place a mark. Line the mark and the right top edge of the cardstock on the cutting line of the trimmer and cut off the corner.

Back panel:    5-1/4" x 3-3/8", no cutting needed.

Glue the first layer to the base card using Multipurpose Liquid Glue.

NOTE:  I admit to having a bit of trouble cutting the layers, and came up with this method:

Cut the four panels above and before cutting the angles, temporarily attach the front and middle panels (except the inside middle) to the base card. Center the panels 1/4" from the bottom.

Turn the card base over and cut along the diagonal. (Clear as mud? See picture below.)

After cutting each panel, remove the panels from the card base and re-attach 1/8" from the bottom. Be sure to do the same to the center panel on the inside of the card.

You are now ready to select your Designer Series Paper (patterned paper) and cut it to fit on each panel.

Front panel:  3-1/8" x 3-1/8", measure on the left side up 1-1/4" and place a mark.  Line the mark and the right top edge of the cardstock on the cutting line of the trimmer and cut off the corner.

Inside panel:  (Cut two -- one for each side of the card base.)  5" x 3-1/8", measure on the left side up 3-1/4" and place a mark. Line the mark and the right top edge of the cardstock on the cutting line of the trimmer and cut off the corner.

Back panel:    5" x 3-1/8", no cutting needed.

OR, cut as shown above.  Your choice on which way you cut your paper.

Attach the Designer Series Paper (patterned paper) to each panel and decorate away.  Will this be an Thinking of You, Thank you, Happy Birthday, etc. card?  Only you know.

TIP:  Have you been wonder how to obtain the layered look on the greeting?  Wonder no more.  Here is a tip I learned a few years ago and it works great when you do not have two sizes of the die you want to use to stamp AND layer your greeting.

Stamp your greeting and cut it out with the die of your choice. THEN, turn your die over (onto the flat side), lay it down on the color of cardstock you want and trace around it.  Cut it out with your scissors and viola you have the layered look!

I hope you have fun making this card.  Please drop me an email and let me know what you think of the instructions.  I am always open to new ideas!
