How to Create a Belly Band

 Belly Band 101

A Belly Band is just that, a band (strip of paper, snippet, lace, tickets, etc.) that holds ephemera, embellishments, small journals, pictures, etc., on a page in a signature.

Belly Bands can be placed vertically or horizontally on a signature page. They can be any size (height or width) you want.  You can create a 5" x 8" journal page and a belly band that is 1-1/4" x 8" or 1-1/2" x 8" vertically or 1-1/2" x 5" horizontally, The size will depend on what you plan to insert under it.

Cut a piece of patterned paper, cardstock, lace, ribbon, etc. 1-1/2" x 6-7/8" (for my journal -- change the dimensions to fit your journal) for the Belly Band.  Add lace or ribbon to decorate (if desired).  You can glue the lace/ribbon down, or you can glue the top and bottom and have a double Belly Band.

Glue Belly Band onto your journal pages. Add ephemera, embellishments, tags, small journals (the ideas are endless.

Be sure to send us a picture of your Belly Band at pelicancraftslongbeach@gmail.com.
